The shamrock leaf's shape represents an organization with three types of workforce:

  • Leaf one - a core of qualified professionals. The group defines the core competence of the organization and what its line of business.
  • Leaf two - contracted specialists in non-core areas. This also comprises the consultants and outsourcing firms providing support services to the companies.
  • Leaf three, seasonal and temporary workers to fill the gaps.
